Michael K. Wiggins - Managing Shareholder, Wiggins Law

Mr. Wiggins is a founding member and managing shareholder of the Firm, whose practice is devoted to the defense of claims for professional malpractice. He represents physicians of all specialties, medical institutions, and laboratory companies throughout the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia in a wide array of complex professional malpractice claims. The majority of these cases are high exposure cases involving birth trauma, wrongful death and other large loss claims. Mr. Wiggins regularly appears in Circuit and Federal Courts throughout Maryland and the District of Columbia on behalf of these clients and has litigated in excess of 500 medical negligence cases throughout his career. Mr. Wiggins also regularly appears before multiple Maryland and District of Columbia Professional Boards, representing physicians and health care providers in administrative actions. Additionally, Mr. Wiggins handles credentialing matters on behalf of both institutions and health care providers, and he regularly gives lectures to health care providers on a variety of risk management issues.

 

Mr. Wiggins is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, an organization whose invitation-only membership can never exceed 1% of the total lawyer population of any state or province. He is also an elected member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.

 

Repeatedly voted by his peers for inclusion in Maryland Super Lawyers (17 consecutive years), Best Lawyers in America (15 consecutive years), and Super Lawyers Top 100 (4 consecutive years), Mr. Wiggins has been counsel of record on a number of leading judicial opinions in Maryland and the District of Columbia on issues relevant to health care law. Such matters have involved precedent-setting cases on the Statute of Limitations for health care providers, as well as immunities and defenses afforded health care providers.
